What this flatten PDF tool changes
The tool uses the current visual appearance of supported AcroForm fields—text fields, checkboxes, radio groups, dropdowns, option lists, and buttons—and adds that appearance to the existing PDF page content. It then removes only those successfully flattened editable fields. Normal text, images, vectors, page order, page boxes, dimensions, and rotations are preserved where supported by the source PDF.
Annotations and links are not flattened
Non-form annotations are outside this structural form-flattening workflow. Comments, highlights, drawing annotations, stamps, attachments, and hyperlinks remain in the PDF and may remain interactive. FiloTool does not silently delete them and does not rasterize the whole document as a shortcut.
Signed PDFs need special care
Flattening or modifying a signed PDF can invalidate existing digital signatures. Signature fields are detected but are not flattened. Even when their visual appearance remains, saving other changes can break the cryptographic verification, so verify the downloaded document in your signature software before relying on it.
Local processing and output checks
Your PDF stays on your device. After flattening, the browser checks the PDF header, reopens the output with an independent parse, confirms the page count and geometry, and verifies that supported editable fields are gone. If no supported fields are found, the tool explains that result instead of creating a pointless copy.

What does flattening a PDF do?
This tool turns supported AcroForm field appearances into page content and removes those editable fields. It does not encrypt the PDF or make every part of the document impossible to edit.
Which PDF form fields can be flattened?
FiloTool supports AcroForm text fields, checkboxes, radio groups, dropdowns, option lists, and buttons when the PDF contains a usable field appearance. XFA forms and malformed field structures are not supported.
Are comments, drawings, and links flattened?
No. Links, comments, highlights, drawings, stamps, file attachments, and other non-form annotations are preserved unchanged where the source structure allows, so they may remain interactive.
Does flattening preserve digital signatures?
No guarantee is possible. Changing and saving a signed PDF can invalidate its cryptographic signatures. Signature fields are not flattened, but the exported modification can still invalidate their signed status.
Does FiloTool upload my PDF?
No. Analysis, flattening, export, and validation happen in your browser. PDF bytes are not uploaded to FiloTool servers or an external document-processing service.
