What the XLSX converter preserves

FiloTool reads visible worksheets in their original workbook order. It renders text, numbers, booleans, dates, cached formula results, basic font emphasis, alignment, fills, borders, row heights, column widths, and simple rectangular merged cells where practical.

Predictable pages instead of tiny spreadsheets

The output uses A4 pages with fixed margins. Sheets that exceed portrait width use landscape pages. If the columns are still too wide, they continue in horizontal bands; long row ranges continue on later pages. Every page from the first worksheet is produced before the next worksheet begins.

A deliberately limited Excel export

This converter is intended for lists, schedules, budgets, exports, and straightforward tables. It does not reproduce Excel's full print engine. XLS, macros, formula calculation, charts, images, drawings, pivots, slicers, embedded objects, advanced conditional formatting, exact fonts, exact print areas, scaling parity, and exact page breaks are outside this version.

Browser-local limits and safety

An XLSX can be up to 15 MiB, with up to 25 visible worksheets, 100,000 populated cells, 20,000 used rows, 200 used columns, 5,000 merged regions per sheet, and 150 output pages. Package expansion and entry counts are checked before rendering. Macros are rejected, formulas are never executed, and external workbook links are never fetched.

Frequently asked questions

Does this Excel to PDF converter upload my workbook?

No. FiloTool reads the XLSX package and creates the PDF locally in your browser. Workbook and PDF bytes are not sent to a conversion server.

Can I convert an old XLS file?

No. This version accepts modern .xlsx workbooks only. Open an XLS file in a compatible spreadsheet editor, save it as XLSX, and then convert that copy.

Are Excel formulas recalculated?

No. Formula code is never executed. If the workbook contains a cached result saved by the spreadsheet application, FiloTool displays that result. A formula without a cached result is left blank.

How are wide worksheets converted?

A wide worksheet uses landscape A4 pages and splits its columns into readable horizontal bands. Rows then continue vertically across as many pages as needed. The converter does not shrink a large sheet onto one unreadable page.

What will differ from Excel's print output?

Built-in PDF fonts replace workbook fonts, and exact print areas, scaling, page breaks, charts, images, drawings, pivots, conditional formatting, and advanced objects are not reproduced. Basic cell values, fills, borders, alignment, sizes, and simple merges are preserved where practical.
