Number PDF pages without uploading

Choose a PDF up to 100 MiB and 80 pages. Set a visual position, the source PDF page where numbering begins, and the first displayed number. The tool adds vector text to the existing pages in your browser, so it does not rasterize the original document.

Starting page and starting number are separate

The starting PDF page controls which physical pages are changed. The first displayed number controls the value drawn there. For example, PDF pages 1 and 2 can remain unchanged while PDF page 3 displays “1”. Formats include a plain number, “Page 1”, “1 of 10”, “Page 1 of 10”, and a custom template.

Output and limitations

Export preserves page order, count, dimensions, rotations, images, and existing document content where supported by pdf-lib. Existing selectable text remains selectable. Adding content can invalidate a digital signature, and unusually complex PDFs may exceed the memory available on a phone or older computer.

Frequently asked questions

Does FiloTool upload my PDF?

No. The preview and numbered PDF are created in your browser. Your PDF is not uploaded to FiloTool servers or an external document-processing service.

Can I leave cover pages unnumbered?

Yes. Set the PDF page where numbering begins. For example, start on PDF page 3 with first displayed number 1 to leave pages 1 and 2 unnumbered.

Which positions are supported?

You can place numbers at the top, middle, or bottom and align them left, centre, or right. Placement is calculated separately for portrait, landscape, mixed-size, and rotated pages.

What are the limits?

The browser-local tool accepts PDFs up to 100 MiB and 80 pages. Available device memory and PDF complexity can impose a lower practical limit. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
