A focused privacy-cleaning workflow

Photos can contain information that is not visible in the pixels, including capture time, camera or phone model, editing software and GPS coordinates. This page is for creating a cleaned copy before you share one image. If you need to inspect fields first or process a batch, use the image metadata viewer and remover.

How to remove metadata

Choose an image, review its preview and dimensions, then select Remove Metadata. Download the newly encoded copy and keep the original separately if you may need its camera or authorship information later.

Supported files and output

The current single-file workflow supports JPG, PNG and still WebP images that the browser can decode. The cleaned file keeps the decoded pixel dimensions. Animated images are not preserved as animations.

Processing stays in your browser

This tool decodes and re-encodes the image locally in your browser. It does not upload the selected file to the site's server. The new file can differ in size because metadata removal requires re-encoding.

What removal cannot guarantee

The workflow removes metadata carried through supported browser decoding and encoding paths, but cannot erase information visible in the image itself or copies stored elsewhere. Review the cleaned image before sharing it.
